Mary Lou Enlow:
OIL - "things out of place" or "decontextualism"
For the past several years Mary Lou Enlow have been painting "things out of place".
She now learns there is a label for this! It is called "decontextualism".
Raising consciousness about the nature of the subject doesn't need to be dead serious.
Decontextualism is a way to stimulate reflection on relationships of people to animals or fantasy to reality, for example.
She trys to always show this with the tools of painting, using specially "rigged view angles and color manipulation and
tries for minimal pigment mixing and compelling spatial effects.
Mary Lou Enlow has had exhibit experience in the Southwest and Northwest,
and also executed several commissioned murals in Eastern and Western Washington.
There has been some Community College teaching experience and also work in graphic design.
A BFA came from the University of Oklahoma. Of great influence was other study with Ben Shahn
at the University of Colorado and lectures by Max Beckmann at Stephens College.
